Abstract: | This research was done to test the physical and thermal properties of the corn leaf insulators. By mixing the corn leaves with rubber latex at the ratio of 40:60 and studying the properties of the insulator such as density, water permeability and thermal conductivity. From the experiment, it was found that the average density of corn leaf insulator was 686.6352 kg/m3, which was higher than the density of commercial insulator, but on the other hand, corn leaf insulator has a very low water permeability that is considered no water permeability and also has a very low thermal conductivity compared to commercial insulators such as Fiber cement board, particleboard and gypsum board. As a result, corn leaf insulators can insulate heat more than other insulators. Therefore, the development of corn leaf insulator is possible to be practical. |
