The Influence of Motivation and Attitude on Participation in Volunteer Activities of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University Students

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate two main areas: 1) the level of volunteer activity participation among students at Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University based on their personal factors; and 2) the influence of motivation and attitude on their participation. The sample included 400 students selected using convenience sampling. A questionnaire served as the research instrument, validated for content validity by three experts. A pilot study was conducted with 30 non-sample students from the same university, and the questionnaire's reliability coefficients ranged from 0.71 to 0.88. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, and mean), inferential statistics (Independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance [ANOVA]), and multiple regression analysis. The key findings are as follows: 1. Participation in volunteer activities among students differed significantly based on their age, academic year, and faculty. 2. Motivation and attitude were significant predictors of volunteer activity participation. Specifically, perceived behavioral control (b=0.31), intrinsic motivation (b=0.23), subjective norms (b=0.19), and extrinsic motivation (b=0.08) all had a significant positive influence, in descending order of impact. The multiple regression model accounted for 68% of the variance in volunteer activity participation.
