Abstract: The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of cobalt oxide doped with chromium oxide in a glass made from rice husk ash from Suphanburi Province, doped with Cr2O3. The glass samples were prepared using the composition (39.99-x) SiO2: 20B2O3: 25Na2O: 15CaO: 0.01CoO: xCr2O3, where x represents the concentration of Cr2O3 (0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, and 0.05 mol%). The glass samples were synthesized using the conventional melt quenching technique at a temperature of 1,200 degrees Celsius for 3 hours and then rapidly cooled. The research focused on studying the physical and optical properties of the glass samples doped with cobalt oxide and chromium oxide. The results revealed that the density and molar volume of the glass samples ranged from 2.6095 ± 0.0000 to 2.6612 ± 0.0001 g/cm3 and 25.6447 to 27.5188 cm3/mol, respectively. The optical absorption spectra of the glasses were measured in the wavelength range of 200 to 1,100 nm. The absorption intensity of the absorption bands increased with a higher concentration of Cr2O3, exhibiting three broad bands at 537 nm (4T1g(F) → 2T1g(H)), 595 nm (4A2(4F) → 4T1(4P)), and 640 nm (2T2 → 2T). The color analysis in the CIE Lab* color space indicated that the glass samples exhibited a luminance value (L*) ranging from 22.8273 to 38.4125, a* values ranging from -7.2878 to -0.1646, and b* values ranging from 37.3246 to -1.8626.
