Perception of of being bullied among nursing students at a university in the Northeastern region

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to explore the frequency of bullying among nursing students in a university in the Northeastern region of Thailand. This study was a survey research design. The sample group used Taro Yamane's sample size formula. The formula and method were shown as follows: where N = Population Size, n = Sample Size, e = Sample Error, 0.05. The total population sample as sampled by substituting the formula 300/ (1+300 (􀠟0.05)􀠠^2 ) = 300/1.75 = 171 peoples and the sample error 0.05 = (300 X 5 )/100 =15 peoples. Summarize the sample to choose 171 + 15 = 186 peoples and simple sampling. he study instrument was a bullying questionnaire which passed the Reliability Test and obtained Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.87. Data were collected from online questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as number, percentage, mean, standard deviation. The results found that 62.90% of nursing students had been bullied at school, 33.87% had been bullied several times a week, and most of those who were bullied at school were 38.46% of seniors at the faculty, 25.64% followed by classmates, and others. Others 35.90% consisted of housewives 14.53%, relatives of patients 12.82% and patients 8.55%.
