Abstract: This research aimed to study the environmental conditions and sleep quality of students residing in the university dormitories in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The sample consisted of 134 female students living on the 9th and 10th floors of Female Dormitory building 2. Data were collected using a questionnaire comprising three sections: general information, an environmental assessment form, and the Thai version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research findings indicated that the dormitory environment presents several issues: noise disturbances (26.9%), unsuitable temperatures (25.4%), inadequate ventilation (29.9%), light from electronic devices (23.1%), and overcrowding (27.6%). These factors contribute to feelings of discomfort and stress, and prevent restful sleep, leading to daytime sleepiness, fatigue, and a lack of concentration. Overall, the students' perception of environmental impact on sleep quality was at a moderate level (mean = 3.08). According to the PSQI sleep quality assessment, 54 students (40.0%) were classified as good sleepers, while 80 students (60.0%) were classified as poor sleepers (mean = 5.60, S.D.= 2.80) The findings of this study can be utilized to improve dormitory environments to be more liveable, conducive to rest, and supportive of students' mental health. Furthermore, this research serves as a reference for planning university dormitory management policies in the future.
