| Abstract: | Currently, communication technology and the internet play a significant role in the lives of people of all ages, especially teenagers and university students. Prolonged use of social media, particularly before bedtime, can negatively impact both physical and mental health, especially "sleep quality," a crucial component of overall well-being. This research aims to 1) study the social media usage behavior among students at the University of Phayao, 2) study the sleep quality among students at the University of Phayao, and 3) study the relationship between social media use and sleep quality among students at the University of Phayao. The sample size was 441 people. The research tools included questionnaires developed by the research team based on a literature review and related documents. Statistical methods used included mean, frequency, percentage, Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient and biserial correlation Coefficient. The study found that the majority of the sample were female (70.5%), fourth-year students (43.5%), and lived alone (59.18%). Regarding sleep quality, 61.78% of the sample had good sleep quality. Factors significantly associated with sleep quality among University of Phayao students at the 0.05 level included sleep patterns, the number of applications used, and the type of applications used. Relevant agencies should utilize these research findings as baseline data to plan initiatives that promote appropriate social media usage and enhance students' sleep quality, thereby fostering a good quality of life for young people. |
