Factors Related to High Sodium in Spicy Salad Consumption Among Students of Burapha University, Bangsaen Campus

Abstract

The aims of this cross-sectional descriptive study were examining high sodium in spicy salad consumption behavior, and factors related to high sodium in spicy salad consumption. A multistage random sampling was used to recruit 201 students from Burapha university, bangsaen campus. Data was collected using an online questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient at 95% were used to analyze the data. The results revealed that 67.2 of student are female, 68.2% had knowledge toward high sodium in spicy salad consumption were good level, 47.2% had attitude toward high sodium in spicy salad consumption were low level, 48.8% had access to media, and 42.5% had influence of groups were low level, and 46.8% had high sodium in spicy salad consumption behaviors at a good level. The factors related to high sodium in spicy salad consumption behaviors were attitude toward high sodium in spicy salad consumption ( r=.500, p<.001), influence of groups ( r=.481, p<.001), access to media ( r=.474, p<.001), and knowledge toward high sodium in spicy salad consumption ( r=-.358, p<.001). The findings suggested that stakeholders should promote learning, attitude, participatory group activities, and appropriate media literacy to enhance students’ skills in the high sodium in spicy salad consumption.
