dc.description.abstractThe present research was aimed at exploring the origin, inheritance, lyrics, rites and beliefs of the Se. Tachalorm folk brass band and its role in the society. The Se. Tachalorm folk brass band was first founded in 1987 and both the Thai music and the brass band have been inherited to individuals within and outside of the family. The musicians currently play in the band have over 10 years of experience in brass band. The brass band is originally characterized with types of musical instruments composed of woodwind, brass, and percussion without electronic and audio instruments. The lyrics played by Se. Tachalorm brass band include March songs, Thai classical songs, Thai folk dance songs, Thai country songs, Thai city songs, modern string songs, and teen pop songs. Regarding beliefs and rites, an importance is placed on custom, tradition, and typical Thai music that signify worship and respect to Thai music masters. Music knowledge transfer is within family with the methods of knowledge transfer and learning based on demonstration, and practice as a model for learners to follow. Knowledge transfer to children is to inherit outside of family. The role and duty of the Se. Tachaloem brass band in Thai society involve 2 areas as rites and entertainment. The adjustment of Se.Tachalorm folk brass band in Thai society today was found to involve 2 factors. Internal factor is to generate income for the band to survive, and external factor includes changes of social condition, modern technology, increased competition, and changing music preference of audiences and hirers.en_US
