Use of library services of users in the “Chaloem Rajakumari” Public Library, Tha Tum District, Surin Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study conditions in use of library services of users in the “Chaloem Rajakumari” Public Library, Tha Tum District, Surin Province. 2) to study problems in use of library services of users in the “Chaloem Rajakumari” Public Library, Tha Tum District, Surin Province; and 3) to compare of problems in use of library services of users in the “Chaloem Rajakumari” Public Library, Tha Tum District, Surin Province classified by gender, age and occupation. The samples were 271 users of “Chaloem Rajakumari” Public Library in Tha Tum District, Surin Province. The research instrument was questionnaires. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results of this research showed that: 1) users have uncertainly access to the service, using service estimate 30-40 minutes, using service of newspaper, find information resources by asking the librarian or library staff, and the purposes of using service were relaxation, reading books and entertainment. 2) the users had problems in using services at a moderate level. The most problem was using services in regarding of general condition. Due to the library was far away, inconvenient to travel; and 3) the users of different genders and ages had no overall and individual problems in using services and users of different occupations had overall problems in using services difference with statistical significant level at .05., i.e. general conditions, information resources, services, and activities.
