Abstract: The objective of this study is to design and develop of the solar cabinet dryer that suitable for application use in household. The methodology to study in this topic comprises of two steps: the first step focus on the design and develop of the solar cabinet dryer and the second step focus on testing of the air temperature within of the being developed solar cabinet dryers compare with the ambient temperature. To meet the benchmark of the solar cabinet dryer for household in the aspect of the benefit in the usage of solar cabinet dryer, the series of the design was conducted. Starting from determining of the concept design by considering from the design criteria in the view of the operation, feature, size and cost aspect. And follow with determining of the detail design from the mutual considering between the concept design and the technical aspect. Four types of the solar cabinet dryers for household were designed and constructed. The results of the thermal performance testing with no load for all types of the dryer showed that the air temperature inside the solar cabinet dryer is much higher than the air temperature at the outside. The maximum air temperature inside the cabinet dryer for each type is 54, 55, 45 and 46 degree Celsius respectively. These imply that ability for receiving and retention heat of solar cabinet dryer mostly depending on the materials used for construction of solar cabinet and insulating system.
