dc.description.abstractThis research aims were develop the triage model by emergency nurses in Nan hospital. This study was conducted through research and development. The four steps were as follows: 1) studying of problem and the basic needs of the triage, 2) constructing model and verifying model quality, 3) Applying the model with nurses, and 4) Evaluating model. Quantitative data analyzed by means of mean and percentage and qualitative data analyzed using content analysis. The results were found that: 1. The triage basic needs have 2 aspects: 1) the triage model and 2) characteristics and competency of triage nurses. The results led to design, create the model in step 2. 2. Constructing model and verifying model quality. The model consisting of 3 elements. 1) knowledge preparation and readiness of triage nurses, 2) The triage tools according to the context of Nan hospital, and 3) Competency and workload of triage nurses. The examination of model quality and tools found that the model and tool were appropriate at high level. 3. The results of the model application were found that; the nurses have increased knowledge, attitudes and appreciation in caring for the elderly, have triage experienced, decreased in the triage error, Have a feeling of confidence, increased value and awareness of triage. The multidisciplinary members who participating in the emergency department have a better understanding of the process and principles of triage, and have a better relationship with each other. 4.The evaluation of the model were found that the participants reflected that model activities made themselves educated. Increased understanding and confidence. Triage tools and assessments help make better operational decisions. Reduce mistakes, happier and more self-worth. The stakeholders saw that the model was practical and appropriate to Nan context.en_US
