| dc.description.abstract | This study, entitled “Ja-Khue Dance in the Kin Wor Festival of the Lahu Ethnic Group in Betong District, Yala Province”, aims to examine the historical background, forms, components, and performance structure and procedures of the Ja-Khue dance, which plays a significant role in the way of life and belief system of the Lahu people. This research adopts a qualitative approach, employing documentary study, in-depth interviews, structured interviews, and both participant and non-participant observations. Data were collected through fieldwork conducted in Ban Namphu Ron, Tano Maero Subdistrict, Betong District, Yala Province, and analyzed using descriptive methods. The findings indicate that the Ja-Khue dance is rooted in ritual beliefs associated with spiritual worship and serves an essential role in various ceremonies and traditional practices. The dance can be categorized into two forms: ritual performance within traditional ceremonies and performances for welcoming guests. Its key components include performance venue, ritual offerings, performers, costumes, and musical instruments, with music playing a crucial role in determining tempo and movement dynamics. The choreography involves six major body components used in dance movements, with a primary emphasis on foot movements, and is typically performed in a circular formation symbolizing community unity. The performance process begins with religious rituals and ancestral worship, followed by formal presentation and communal participation. The findings suggest that the Ja-Khue dance functions not only as a form of performing art but also a vital mechanism for preserving cultural identity, strengthening social relationships, and encouraging participation among people of all ages. | en_US |
