This study investigates the use of alternative materials to mitigate environmental impacts by utilizing Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) as shear walls, which are key structural components responsible for resisting seismic forces in buildings. this study adopts a performance-based plastic design approach (Performance-Based Plastic Design; PBPD) for the design of CLT shear walls. The study employs four 10-story prototype building models, each assigned different energy modification factors (k). The buildings are assumed to be located in Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province, and the seismic intensity is defined according to the Ministry of Interior Regulation on seismic-resistant design of buildings (B.E. 2564). The research focuses on evaluating the shear capacity of CLT shear walls and developing analytical models to support the design of timber buildings capable of efficiently resisting seismic and shear forces. The results indicate that different energy modification factors significantly affect the base shear and structural response behavior. The building model with k = 2.78 produced the highest base shear of 4,344 kN, whereas the model with k = 0.70 produced a base shear of 435 kN. In addition, the fundamental periods of the four building models ranged from 2.06 to 2.08 seconds.en_US
