KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND SELF-CARE BEHAVIORS OF DIABETIC PATIENTS RECEIVING SERVICES AT THA HEALTH PROMOTING HOSPITAL, MUANG DISTRICT, PHITSANULOK PROVINCE

Abstract

This study was descriptive research. Have a purpose to study relation of knowledge, attitudes and self-care behaviors of diabetic patients receiving services at Tha Pho Health Promoting Hospital, Muang District, Phitsanulok Province. The sample size were 97 diabetes patients. Data was collected by used diabetes knowledge and attitudes about diabetes and self-care behaviors of the diabetic patient group questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum and Inferential Statistics analyzes the relationship between diabetes knowledge, attitudes, and self-care behaviors of diabetics using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The result showed that the most of sample have high level of knowledge about diabetes 97.9%, and good attitude to diabetes disease 62.9% and self-care behaviors of diabetic patients include food consumption, exercise and drug use were at high level such as 56.7% ( 􀂚􀴤􀀃= 35.08, S.D = 4.12) , 62.9% ( 􀂚􀴤􀀃= 27.14, S.D = 5.45) and 60.8% (􀂚􀴤􀀃= 37.25, S.D = 4.11). The relationship between knowledge, attitudes and self-care behaviors of diabetic patients receiving services at Tha Pho Health Promoting Hospital are significant with ( r = 0.047, r = 0.009) for self-care behaviors of diabetic patients
